On Thursday 28th November 2024, the Ports Management and Facilities Department of the Seychelles Fisheries Authority (SFA) teamed up with the Fisheries Research Department and the Public Relations Section for an ocean clean-up activity. This initiative is part of the Seychelles Ocean Festival, celebrated from November 28th to 30th 2024.

Onboard the SFA’s Mahe Maru vessel, the team focused on cleaning the coastline around Victoria Fishing Port, Isle Hodoul, and Marine Charter. During the 3-hour trip, they successfully collected rubbish, including empty bottles, plastic bags, discarded pallets, and other debris that threatens the marine environment.

This effort was carried out in collaboration with the Seychelles Ports Authority, and Seychelles Coast Guard. This was an opportunity to contribute to a cleaner and healthier ocean, demonstrating SFA’s commitment to supporting the preservation of our marine environment.
