The Board of the Seychelles Fisheries Authority (SFA) is pleased to announce the re-appointment of Dr. Jan Robinson for a second term as Chief Executive Officer, effective 16th October 2025.
Dr. Robinson’s re-appointment was made in consultation with the Principal Minister, Minister for Fisheries and the Blue Economy and the President of the Republic of Seychelles, in accordance with Section 75(1) of the Public Enterprises Act, 2023. This decision reflects confidence in his proven leadership and the significant progress achieved under his stewardship during his initial two-year mandate.
Appointed as CEO on 15th October 2023, Dr. Robinson, a scientist by profession, brought to the role two decades of experience in fisheries research, marine resource management and international project coordination. His tenure has been characterised by strategic reform, operational modernisation, and major infrastructural investments by the Authority.
Since assuming office, Dr. Robinson has spearheaded delivery on the Authority’s renewed mandate under the SFA Establishment Act (2024) and the new Fisheries and Aquaculture Act (2025), which provide an enhanced governance framework for sustainable fisheries development and management. He has overseen the construction and upgrading of regional fish markets and the improvement of facilities for artisanal and semi-industrial fisheries, contributing to economic empowerment and better service delivery across the sector. Under his leadership, the Authority has undergone an exciting rebranding and has contributed significantly to Seychelles being internationally recognised as a leader in fisheries transparency. Corporate governance, financial and performance management have been strengthened for improved compliance, accountability, risk management and institutional efficiency.
The re-appointment of Dr. Robinson signals continued confidence in his vision and leadership. With a renewed mandate, he is expected to deepen SFA’s modernisation drive, advance regional and international fisheries partnerships, and ensure the Authority continues to serve as a cornerstone of the national fisheries sector in alignment with the Government’s broader Blue Economy vision.
The Board of Directors extends its full support to Dr. Robinson as he continues to lead the Seychelles Fisheries Authority towards achieving its strategic objectives and reinforcing its role in delivering sustainable fisheries management and development.
