On Friday 17th July, the Human Resources Department facilitated the Seychelles Fisheries Authority’s (SFA) participation in the 2026 Careers Fairs held at Perseverance Secondary School and Pointe Larue Secondary School. The initiative formed part of the HR department’s strategic objective to increase awareness of the diverse career opportunities available within the Authority.
SFA aims to inspire future professionals who will contribute to the sustainable management of Seychelles’ marine resources and the continued growth of the fisheries sector.
The team included the Human Resource, Aquaculture, Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS), and Fisheries Management Departments, which engaged with students through interactive displays, educational presentations, live aquaculture species, practical demonstrations and one-on-one career guidance.
Students gained valuable insight into careers in fisheries science, aquaculture, marine resource management, monitoring and surveillance, and other technical and support services. They were also informed about the qualifications, competencies, and personal attributes required to pursue employment within the fisheries sector.
For the Human Resources department, participation in these career fairs represents an investment in the future workforce. Building awareness of the Authority’s mandate and career opportunities helps attract motivated young people while promoting fisheries as a rewarding and meaningful sector to build a career.
The Department will incorporate school outreach and career promotion activities into its 2026 & 2027 Calendar of Activities to strengthen partnerships with educational institutions and ensure that SFA continues to engage, inspire and develop the next generation of fisheries professionals who will help safeguard Seychelles’ marine resources for years to come.
