The sea cucumber fishing season will return to the standard nine-month period from October 1st, 2024, to June 30th, 2025, with 25 licensees.

Only three (3) sea cucumber species will be allowed for harvesting, with quotas remaining the same as the previous season:

  • Flower Teatfish (“Pentard”): 240,472 pieces
  • Golden Sandfish (“Kokonm”): 100,000 pieces
  • Prickly Redfish (“Sanpye”): 45,000 pieces

Harvesting white and black teatfish will continue to be prohibited on the Mahe Plateau and in the Amirantes groups. However, outside these zones, the following quotas will apply per fishing vessel:

  • White Teatfish: 1,750 pieces
  • Black Teatfish: 250 pieces

In line with the 2023/2024 season, the following quotas will apply for other main commercial species, but only in areas outside the Mahe Plateau and the Amirantes groups:

  • Flower Teatfish: 2,500 pieces
  • Prickly Redfish: 1,200 pieces
  • Golden Sandfish: 4,000 pieces

The agreed framework for quota redistribution will now also apply to license holders operating in the Mascarene Plateau’s Joint Management Area (JMA), which Seychelles and Mauritius share.
