On 11th and 12th June 2026, the Seychelles Fisheries Authority (SFA) was honoured to host a high-level delegation from the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, led by H.E. Sidi Tiémoko Touré, Minister of Animal and Fisheries Resources, accompanied by Blue Economy experts and senior government officials.

The visit formed part of an exchange and familiarization mission to Seychelles, providing the delegation with valuable insights into the management and development of Seychelles’ fisheries and aquaculture sectors.

During their visit to SFA headquarters on day one, the delegation met with the Authority’s management team and received an overview of SFA’s key operations, as well as Seychelles’ approach to fisheries governance and management.

The mission continued with a visit to the SFA Fishing Port in Victoria, where the delegation had the opportunity to observe first-hand the activities of Seychelles’ artisanal fishers, their vessels, and the supporting infrastructure available at the port, including the ice plant and fuel depot.

A key component of the visit was a tour of the aquaculture facilities at Providence on day 2, including the Broodstock and Quarantine Facility (BAQF) and the containerized hatchery. The visit provided the delegation with a comprehensive understanding of the development of Seychelles’ aquaculture sector, which serves as an important reference for the implementation of Côte d’Ivoire’s national Blue Economy policy.

Minister Touré expressed his satisfaction with the mission and highlighted Côte d’Ivoire’s keen interest in learning from Seychelles’ experiences, particularly as the country continues to develop its aquaculture sector. He also conveyed his intention to pursue the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near future to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of the Blue Economy, fisheries, and aquaculture.

SFA remains committed to fostering regional and international partnerships that promote sustainable fisheries, aquaculture development, and the advancement of the Blue Economy for the benefit of present and future generations.
